Welcome to the Help Centre. Below you’ll find answers to common questions about data privacy, tax calculations, assumptions, and more.

This app is a planning tool and does not provide financial advice.

Data Privacy & Security

Yes. Your privacy is our top priority. All financial data is stored on your device only. We do not collect, store, or transmit any of your personal information to our servers. Your data never leaves your device, ensuring complete privacy and security for your retirement planning.

Because data is stored only on your device, deleting the app will remove all your information. If you plan to reinstall the app later, you will need to re-enter your data.

The app currently does not have a built-in export option. We are exploring this for a future release.

Tax Calculations

All income tax calculations are based on the current UK tax year, ensuring that your projections reflect the latest available tax rates and thresholds.

The app gives you control over how future tax thresholds are projected:

  • Recommended: Adjust tax bands annually to reflect typical inflationary increases.
  • Conservative: Use current (2025) tax band figures without adjustment.

This flexibility helps you model a range of economic outcomes over your retirement period.

Inflation Assumptions

The app uses the Bank of England’s target rate of 2% as the default inflation assumption. You can update this rate on the Target Annual Retirement Income page to better reflect your personal expectations or economic outlook.

Geographic Coverage

This app is designed for UK users and is based on UK tax rules, inflation assumptions, and pension structures. If you are based outside the UK, results may not be accurate for your country. We are actively exploring support for additional regions in the future.

Calculation Accuracy & Limitations

The app uses your inputs and current UK tax rates to provide realistic estimates. However, all projections are illustrative only. Actual outcomes may vary based on changes in tax law, inflation, market performance, and your personal circumstances.

The app makes several key assumptions, including:

  • Inflation is applied using a consistent, linear average based on your selected rate (default is 2%). This approach does not reflect real-world fluctuations in inflation over time.
  • Tax bands are based on 2025–2026 values and will either remain fixed or increase annually with inflation, depending on your chosen setting.
  • Default investment growth rates are based on long-term historical averages for pensions and Stocks & Shares ISAs. Growth is applied as a linear average and does not account for provider fees or other charges. Actual returns may go up or down depending on market performance and your specific investments.
  • The value of investments can vary from figures illustrated in this app. They are estimates and not guaranteed. They do not represent minimum or maximum outcomes. Actual values may vary based on contributions, market performance, changes in government policy, and other factors.
  • Legislation is assumed to remain unchanged. The app does not account for future changes to UK tax or pension rules.
  • The app assumes your income sources, including State Pension, begin on the dates specified.
  • If you retire before a fixed income begins (e.g. State Pension or Defined Benefit income), that income will be excluded from your projected income until its start date.

No. The projections do not account for potential tax charges if your pension savings exceed the Lifetime Allowance.

No. This app is intended for illustrative and informational purposes only and does not provide financial advice. While it can help you explore various retirement scenarios using your inputs and assumptions, it is not a substitute for professional financial planning. For personalised guidance, you should consult a qualified financial adviser. We also recommend reviewing and updating your projections regularly as your personal and financial circumstances change.

State Pension Information

Your State Pension Age depends on your date of birth and gender. This app provides an estimate only. To find your official State Pension Age, please visit GOV.UK.

If you plan to retire before your State Pension begins, your projected income will not include the State Pension during those years.

Inheritance and Tax Assumptions

For planning purposes, we assume that Fixed Income sources, such as the State Pension and Defined Benefit pensions, will end upon your death and will not transfer to a spouse or other beneficiaries.

For all other accounts—such as Defined Contribution pensions, ISAs, and personal savings—we assume that these assets are transferred to your spouse or beneficiary. When they begin withdrawing from these accounts, we assume the withdrawals are taxed at their full income tax rate.
